Hottest Smartphones Of 2010
Mobile marketing has proved to be a real challenge in the year 2010 as great number of smartphones were unveiled in this year. Some of them were so advanced regarding Cutting edge technology that they will be tough to beat even in years to come. It’s a very small platform to discuss about all of them but I will definitely highlight some of the blockbusters of this year.
This year all the mobile giants starting from Apple, Nokia, Samsung, HTC tried to bring out their best smartphone ever and those efforts yielded phones like iPhone 4, Nokia n8, Samsung Galaxy S and towards the end of this year Microsoft marketed the Windows phone 7 making another strong contender in smartphone market. All these phones are built considering portability, Strong battery backup and multitasking at their best level. Now let me discuss about them one by one –
iPhone 4
Just after the announcement of its presence, ‘iPhone 4’ was released in June 2010 and after its release smartphone market had a kind of shock as iPhone 4 had possibly all the technology that could possibly be intermingled in a single device. Though it had some issues regarding its receiver but they took some rapid actions to take control over the issue. iPhone 4 has some features that had never been heard of, like the ‘Retina Display’ making crystal clear display with more intense pixels. It also presented a feature called ‘Face Time’ that enabled video calling using Wi-Fi technology. In addition to these apple made their biggest improvement in the field of Graphics ensuring the best gaming experience for smartphone users. Here are some other features that took the market aback-
- 1 GHZ Apple A4 Processor
- 3G Network
- Capacitive Touch Screen
- Scratch-Resistant Oleo-Phobic Surface
- Scratch-Resistant Glass Back Pane
- Multi-Touch Input Method
- Accelerometer Sensor For Auto-Rotate
- Three-Axis Gyro Sensor
- Proximity Sensor For Auto Turn-Of
- 5 MP, 2592 x 1944 pixels
- Auto-focus Lens And LED flash
- Video recording-720p@30fps
- LED video Light
- Geo-Tagging
Nokia N8
Near the last quarter of this year Nokia released The N8. Though it didn’t had the success as expected but it still is the best contender for the iPhone 4 . Nokia continued on building rock solid mobile phones as N8 is built within a Aluminum unibody shell (like it’s going in a nuclear war !). It had no issues in network reception and they have retained their reputation on solid reception, like apple they went for solid chipsets but it is also true that they could not ensure gaming facility like apple . But they took a giant step on the snapper and built the best snapper so far on smart phone . Their camera is 12 MP with 4000×3000 pixels and Carl Zeiss optics. While all other smartphone developers are trying to copy apple, Nokia choose to walk in their own way and focused on this unique product . But all their good efforts are more or less ruined by their weak Symbian3 OS, though much improvements have been made . Here are some other features that Drew my attention-

- ARM 11 680 MHz processor
- 16 GB storage capacity
- 256MB RAM, 512 MB ROM
- 3D Graphics HW accelerator
- 3G Network Support
- AMOLED capacitive touchscreen
- Scratch resistant Gorilla glass display
- 12 MP, 4000×3000 pixels
- Carl Zeiss optics
- Autofocus lens with Xenon flash
- TV-output
Samsung Galaxy S
Were there any scope left for another superstar ? I didn’t thought that but Samsung did and undoubtedly threw the biggest challenge towards apple. It has a display of 4 inch superseding both apples and Nokia’s 3.5 inch display and it may not be able to provide the retina display but surely it provides great video and gaming experience in its bigger screen. Previously Samsung had issues that they were not able to create or use good efficient chipsets but this time they made a great improvement in this section giving us a smoother and faster smart phone. They used the Android operating system and it did the magic for them. Now Nokia has do some real magic With t
heir symbian OS and surely with this device android has made their place in the market. Take a look on some of the other features –- ARM Cortex A8 1GHz processor
- 8 GB/16GB storage, 512 MB RAM, 2GB ROM
- 3G network support
- 5 MP, 2592 x 1944 pixels, auto-focus
- Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n
- Multi-touch input method with Predictive text input
- Accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate
- GPS support
- YouTube, Calendar, Google Talk, Picasa integration
- Swype text input
This year was the golden year in smartphone technology ! What will the next year yield ? I believe only time will yield that the answer!
